Wormwood

Tasmanian Worm Bark

I travelled to Hobart in September 2022 and was fortunate to come across some incredible worm markings in the local bushland upon some of the trees. Upon capturing some photos on my phone, I later uploaded these into Adobe Illustrator and applied the ‘Glowing Edges’ effect to hero the linear patterns, zooming in on points of interest. The results are largely similar to fractal trees – preliminary drawings of mine discussed earlier in the research blog.

The next stage will involve investigation into the possible translation of some of these into scores – similar to fractal trees, but for now – here are the preliminary visual results. The first gallery (below) indicates the raw imagery and the second (to the right) with the layering of overtone shapes.
